Hey guys. I usually have dual classes left for me to finish my Finance degree, though with the not long ago mercantile difficulty it’s creation me to wish to stand in vital in accounting.

My strange idea was get my BA in Finance afterwards go for MBA or MS in Finance. What I be concerned right away is, if I can’t find the pursuit after I connoisseur due to this mercantile crisis, how am I gonna be means to gloss my focus for great commercial operation school? What if I finish up removing the pursuit in similar to selling or entrance accounting or something not associated to my major? Will I get compensate inducement for stand in majoring or usually an corner in removing hire? Also the final time I had an accounting category was about 2 years ago, I am formulation to take 3 classes subsequent division ( Intermediate accounting I, price accounting, inner review control) afterwards dual in the summer (Intermediate 2, Financial Statement Analysis)will which be overwhelming? as well as eventually I cruise many brand new graduates will usually get entrance turn accounting jobs right? So won’t the Finance grade will be sufficient unless I devise to do auditing(consider I have 0 work knowledge in accounting)?

Now is the time to reach out to the Alumni network of your school. Try and get in touch with someone who did a double major and get some pointers from them.

Their insight would be particularly insightful if they are in the job market right now.

Your lecturers might be able to suggest some people.

Depending on what school you attened a BBA in Finance can mean very little compared to an accounting degree or it can mean a lot.
I am graduating in two months and have double majored in accounting and finance. By no means do I want to be an accountant, but I think with the way the market situation currently is, it is an excellent back up for a career choice.
I am currently interviewing at various firms and although I did not go to a top-notch business school, numerous employers have showed more interest in me for analyst positions, despite the market, because I have a stronger knowledge base and understanding of accounting.
Having an in depth knowledge of accounting and financial statements is definitely a strong selling point for more finance based entry level positions.
With the market “crisis” the talent pool is much more competitive and you will need as many strong selling points as you can get.
If it doesn’t prolong the amount of time you have to spend in school by too much then I highly suggest it.
Keep in mind though that Finance is not all about numbers. Writing and communications skills are extremely important. Maybe instead of double majoring in Acct/Finance you might want to consider doing a minor in Journalism or such.
As for your question on the stregth of schedule, it is somewhat of a heavy load, but it is completely doable if you put your mind to it.
I worked full time while double majoring – I think it is all about the effort you put in and the results you want to get from it.
That too can be a selling point when applying for jobs – you can show them the difficulty of your schedule and then your successes to prove you have the ability to take on a heavy and demanding courseload and still do well.
Hope that helps.

You don’t need the 2nd major to get a job. I own a business. I dont even worry about what people majored in at college. I will train you for everything you are going to do..
