So where are the two options going to leave you ?
With finance:
A grounding in the numbers that will ensure that any business that you get involved in will be sound.
With marketing:
A grounding in the principles of advertising and promoting the business/attracting customers to allow you to have useful numbers to watch.
Both are skills that are readily transferable to another industry or business. At this stage, I would look at which more suits you character, as you will have to have an appreciation of both long term. Within the context of a degree, one thing to keep in mind is the boring bit about actually getting a good pass in the subject – preferably by enjoying the course, and minimising the stress in doing the tasks involved.
True marketing involves not only watching the bottom line, but also being creative .. and the pressure to do that in defined timescales, and within budget. A more creative (within limits and constraints) role.
If that is your flair, then probably this will keep your interest high.
Finance, is more defined, and is wholly about balancing the numbers and recognising when a business needs a particular type of support eg to boost the activities of the marketing person/department.
a more management/controlling aspect, though the end result is one of creation – a profitable business. Something to be proud of.
So which feels more like you ?
Neither is wrong.. your goal is to get a good degree. So pick the one that you will be most comfortable with. Worry about the applicability later. You will have seen both sides during the course, and will no doubt cover and do some of each.
