I devise upon purchasing Quickbooks for my accounting purposes, given i’ve schooled which this is the #1 accounting program for tiny businesses in the USA. But what alternative program would we recommend?
I see the series of businesses use Quicken, though is it necessary? Does it assistance with organizing finances? If I had Quickbooks, would Quicken only be an combined benefit? I’m the sole-proprietor as well as the rub the body therapist, so I would be personal as the tiny use business. I do not have any register I’m offered or anything alternative than my services as the therapist.
And when it comes to taxes, I customarily rest upon H&R Block, though is Turbotax any great in comparison?
Thank you!

Quicken is a personal accounting system by microsoft. It is for individuals budgeting & managing their own financials. It is not a “business” tool.
Quickbooks is a professional business tool and can be used for small to medium sized business. Most of it will be overkill but for the $300 it costs every 3-5 years, I say it is worth it. There are other similar packages available like PeachTree. They are all more or less the same. Quickbooks is good because as you say, it the most popular, and it’s easier to find people who know it to help you.
Turbotax probably will get you what you need. My dad is an accountant and his company prepares taxes using the professional version of Turbotax. If you don’t have significant investments or multi-state/country income, the personal version should be fine.
First off I believe that you should consider first the future of your company. For accounting software, our accountant recommends Simply Accounting or Quickbooks.
For Customer Relationship Databasing, Human Resource Management, and everything else from Point of Sale to Project Management we recommend using something like http://www.openbravo.com/ or http://www.openerp.com/ both are open source ERP systems that include all of the above and more.
If you want help setting it up, managing your Databases, Training, or anything else related let us know…we even do system integrations and custom programming.

You can consider the free open source program GnuCash for a small business.
Read the review by CNET staff here that it is suitable for a small business. You can also download the software from this page.

If you have questions, you can search in the GnuCash User forum here.

As i can see, you might not need Quickbooks as urgent, or would do any much influence on your business.. Yet it would help in organizing only and give you feedback on certain sales volumes, database, etc….
If you work as you said and not intending to grow much.. i don’t think quickbox will add any value.. yet Quicken might be of value for same purpose as well..
Good luck and have a great day .
