Most likely China, because of the three countries listed, it will have a more mature economy than the others. Though India will have a larger population, India will not have the amount of GDP China will have because currently, China has a much larger economy than India. Brazil’s economy on the other hand is growing rapidly, but due to population, Brazil will likely never have an economy as large as China.
You’re assuming the U.S. will still be around in 2050. We’re doing an awfully good job of destroying ourselves. Between all the entitlement-minded people who expect to sit on their lazy butts accepting handouts and the people in government who want to make EVERYONE more reliant on government, we could easily end up becoming the next Soviet Union. If that happens, trade won’t mean much to anyone except the government, who will be running the show anyway.
The first poster said China, and he’s probably right, but there is a chance Brazil could edge China out. Brazil is investing heavily in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities (mostly in automotive, aviation, and heavy machinery), and their investment could give them a greater competitive edge over China, not to mention opening the doors for joint operating agreements with U.S. companies.
I am guessing Brazil…
