Well, the short answer is you just start doing whatever it is that your business is in the business of doing. If your talking from a registration standpoint, visit the nearest state tax building (or visit the website) and fill out the paperwork to start a sole proprietorship (you, the individual, are the business). That’s the easiest way to start a business, though it places all liability on you. An LLC or corporation (your business becomes a separate entity), both having quite a bit more complex registration process, will protect you and your personal belongings from lawsuits etc. That you are currently working has no influence on the process (registration-wise) of starting a business.
