Thanks for any/all help.

You will need web hosting, a developer tool (Dreamweaver, Notepad ++, notepad)
To learn HTML, and other web programming languages I would recommend picking up a book. However http://www.w3schools.com has some great starting tutorials with tests at the end to make sure you understand the content.
1st – you need somewhere to host your website – i recommend you look up hostmonster reviews, there is a coupon for $3.95/month and includes free domain name, plus advertising coupons.
2nd – you can either go through cpanel and use a simple script to install a database and template for your site, or search yahoo for website templates to get the files to create the site.
3rd – another handy tool for web design is the firebug add-on for firefox. You can right click on things and preview changes.
As an example, I created http://www.tech-101.com using simplescripts and used a phpbb3 forum, it created the database for me and installed the basic files taking less than 3 minutes total.
Just a quick search showed quite a few free templates such as http://businesswebsitetemplates.blogspot.com/2008/01/free-business-website-template-016.html
It sounds like Office Live Small Business from Microsoft is what you are looking for. Users can choose their .com domain name, build the site using their templates, and then host their site on Microsoft’s servers. Several examples of websites created with this service are available on the Office Live Small Business homepage. It is also free for the first year, which is plenty of time to figure out if this is the right solution you are looking for.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
