I’d say the very first thing is word of mouth. Get the word out to a specific affluent neighborhood and try to make that your ‘territory’. People usually find referrals from their neighbors for that sort of thing.
You’ll be dealing mostly in cash, so I wouldn’t worry about legal, insurance, taxes etc until you’re up and running. Those sort of things can be taken care of once you get the business running. I would deal with those issues as they come up, for example filing a DBA or talking to an accountant re: taxes can wait until 6 months after your business has started.
Hope this helped and good luck …
S.C.O.R.E. is a company of retire executives that volunteer their time to help people like you. Check the internet to setup an appointment with a local comittee in your neighborhood.
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you’re interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you’ll inevitably have as well as many you haven’t anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:
* Start Your Own Lawn Care Business (Entrepreneur Magazine’s Start Up) by Eileen Figure Sandlin
* Start & Run A Landscaping Business by Joel LaRusic
* How to Start a Home-Based Landscaping Business, 4th by Owen Dell
* Lawn Care & Gardening: A Down-To-Earth Guide to the Business by Mickey Willis
There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
My recommendation is go for the internet business which require less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business where all the things are automated. Third, choose the business which does not require big money to start it. Think again, when you are earning money from the internet, you have the chance to get rid from an income tax.
