I’m 11th (out of 12) in my league. I keep up with it daily.
I do not understand. I have a single of the many appropriate batting lineups…Pujols, Tejada, Upton, Hardy, Bonds, Pierre, Alou, Piazza, Aaron Hill…
My pitching is where I’m spiteful the most. I’m final in wins, ERA as well as WHIP. My misfortune dual starters have been should be you do awesome, Ramon Ortiz as well as Daisuke Matsuzaka (5.45 ERA) (Boston’s brand new over paid Japanese pitcher) so I’m frightened to let them go for a little no-name who is you do great early upon (which is what my alternative 3 starters are).
As distant as relievers, my dual misfortune relievers have been my usually dual closers which get saves. Borowski (11 saves though 7.43 ERA) & Tom Gordon (5 saves as well as 4.82 ERA). There have been NO some-more closers accessible in giveaway group so if I give them up I have no saves. My non-closer relievers have been you do great!
I do not know what to do. I’m open for advice. Should I traffic a little great batters for improved pitchers? Any alternative suggestions? Thanks.

If you are in the ESPN league, don’t worry about saves. worry about pitchers with good ERA’s and can get strikeouts (the wins will come along) try to trade a closer to someone who needs saves and doesn’t know better, for a quality starter. and if u can, pick up Brett Myers for the Phil’s, hes getting some save opportunities as well
You need to concentrate on your weak areas. You stated you need pitching. It might be wise to get rid of Bonds and Piazza for some pitching. Both players are up in age and stay on the DL. As soon as Bonds gets the record they are going to give him a rest. I have Aaron Hill on my team, I’m going to ride him until he starts to slide. He can’t keep those numbers all year. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!
Dice-K will come around, still very early in the season. I would however look at dropping Ortiz for some other starter. What other SP are available to pick up?
And as far as getting rid of batters, i think you could probbaly get rid of Bonds and Pierre for s good starting pitcher. With Pierre you will lose steals though. And the only thing Bonds is good for is HR. He doesnt drive in alot of runs because no one on that team can hit and he doesnt play everyday either.
I realize that a lot of fantasy players don’t like the idea, but I use it and I’ve been in first the entire year: Punt. You have to punt saves to make up in other categories. It is the only independent category that you can punt w/o hurting you to much. Gordon and Borowski in a package w/ a starter or one of your Hot IF’s (Hardy or Upton) should yield you a solid elite starter that can anchor your rotation. Your other relievers will fill the RP spots and since they are doing great they should keep you afloat. One piece of advice for you though is not to get hooked on streaks. Upton will die down so sell him high as well as Bonds, and Hardy. Rest are solid, but they need to be sold at their maximum value. Don’t be afraid to shop, but think over your sacrifices before you make a trade. Remember its early in the season and you won’t be at the bottom if your other players pick up.
good luck
it is only early May, stay put and do not make any major changes. You have a good core group of players and it will all balance out in the end. Wait till around the all star break to make a move if someone is still not panning out.
Mike Gonzalez, a relief pitcher for the braves is taking over the closer role from Rafael Soriano for now, pick him up if he is available. Jeremy Accardo is taking over the closer role for the Blue Jays, Frasor has lost the job.
These two pickups can help your closer situation.
To help your ERA and WHIP problem, I would drop the underwhelming Russ Ortiz and pick up a decent setup man.
Heath Bell
Hideki Okajima
Cla Meredith
Scott Linebrink
Derrick Turnbow
Pat Neshek
Any of these guys can help you lower your ERA and WHIP
Your hitters seem like they can get the job done, Pujols will come around eventually for you.
Hope this helps.
You might have to Bag a category, like saves. Gorden is NOT the closer, Brett Myers is.
Try:
Accardo for the Bluejays,
Soria for the Royals
Soriano for the Braves
If no closers are available, go for middle relievers with high K’s and low WHIP and ERA like Heath Bell from the Padres.
Keep your eyes on stats and look for surprise closers to emerge through the year.
jon price
Dice-k did fine last night and he should be okay for the season. His WHIP might not be all that great though. Borowski has had two awful outings and the rest hasn’t been too bad, that’s why his ERA is so high. He has never had a great WHIP though. Try to trade Ortiz, you may want to pursue Dave Bush of Milwaukee for him. Bush’s ERA isn’t great but his WHIP is usually pretty good over the whole season and he can get some K’s. He’ll also get a lot of chances to win because Milwaukee seems to have figured things out.
Drop Piazza, he’s an old and injury-prone DH in a pitchers park.
Try to sell your OF’s high. Alou and Bonds are doing well now, but they are old and injury prone. Get rid of them while they have some value. You may be able to get a solid SP or RP for one of them. Is Accordo still available in your league. He will probably be Toronto’s closer for the rest of the year.
Good luck.
This would be easier to answer if you described what categories are used for this league and whether its a h2h or roto. But I think you over-estimate the value of your team’s player. Maybe 5 years ago this would have been a good but its hard to see who was drafted where? Pujols must have been your first round pick and he is slumping which explains that part of it. But who was your 2nd round pick? Bonds and Piazza are name players although bonds is hitting again he doesn’t play day games after night games. Seems you got lucky with hardy and upton as well. If you had drafted better early in the draft your team would be much better. Tejeda as a ss is over-valued because he has no speed. I don’t see speed anywhere on your team!
