TRADE QUESTION?

I gave up: Ben Sheets as well as Alex Rios
For: Derek Lee as well as Rocco Baldelli

My alternative OF’s have been Dye, Bonds, Luis Gonazalez, Ichiro as well as Matthews JR.
My P- Dice K, zito , penny, beckett, freddy garcia, claudio vargas, matt moris, spoof johnson, wang.

Do we consider which I unequivocally got the top palm in this trade?
I had richie sexson during 1st

Well, it definitely seems like you don’t need outfielders. You might as well have not gotten Baldelli at all and just picked up a free agent at a position where you need depth.

On the other hand, Ben Sheets will get you a lot of innings and strikeouts. Your staff is competent, but it’s depth is limited. A lot of the pitchers you have were once good and are now not consistent like Matt Morris. Claudio Vargas just isn’t good in general and Wang is on the DL. I would say that it was a pretty fair deal considering your opponent probably needed pitching and you probably needed power numbers at the first base position.

My advice is to drop Baldelli and get more depth at a weak position.

No i don’t think you got the upper hand at all. Who did you have at first before the trade???

Ben sheets is a great pitcher and you should of kept him. Also i would take Rios over Baldelli anyday.

I like your trade alot, you have a very deep pitching staff and received a top of the line 1st basemen in return. If Derek Lee can return to the 2006 numbers (.300 avg, 35 Hr, 120 RBI, 20 steals) you definately will have made the better deal here. Baldelli is solid, again he is a huge injury risk which Im sure you put into account, but so is Ben Sheets.

Your pitching….Do you have any closers though?

I think this is a good move for you, Lee’s hitting in an active lineup, good upgrade 4rm Sexson. Sheets is slumping with no run-support, but that might change. Quality move overall, good luck in the season.

If you need a 1B, lee was a decent pickup, but not at the expense of Rios and Sheets. Like the first guy said, Baldelli is useless to you if you have Dye, Bonds, and Ichiro to starts and Matthews Jr on the bench…and I dont think your staff could afford the loss of Sheet’s Ks

Yeah, I like that trade. Derek Lee is capable of doing very well this year as long as he stays healthy.
