We gave up Manny and got Bay. Manny is better than Bay… but wait, we gave up 2 other guys and are paying the last 7 million on Manny’s contract too… wtf? We better get Grabow from the Pirates too
it makes no sense why the Red Sox would give up so much for a player like Jason Bay. This was a last minute panic attempt of Theo Epstein to get rid of Manny.
The deal was basically Bay for Ramirez and Ramirez is no doubt a much better player. But i agree with u they had to get rid of him, cause he was going to be a headache

Because people are still caught up in the name value of Manny Ramirez. They can’t get over the fact he is no longer that incredible bat. He can’t be mentioned with the Pujols’ and A-Rods of MLB anymore.
People don’t get Bay and Manny are very similar players. Both are power bats that draw a lot of walks. Except Bay isn’t a household name and yet he is younger, still under contract, better defensively, and gives the Sox no distractions.
This is a great trade for the Red Sox and I don’t get why Yankee fans are all gloating.

Manny: .299 66 20 68 1. He is 36 and is a pending free agent. He has obviously wants out of Boston and you never know how much effort he will put into each game.

I think they should have sent him to some team completely out of contention to send a statement. I’m not even a Sox fan so i’m not even around it and i’m annoyed by manny and how much he complains about everything. If i were there gm i would have tried to trade him to the pirates who are always bad, then you won’t have anymore upset players b/c they’ll be afraid to be traded to an awful team. lol
