SHOULD THE CUBS TRADE FOR KEN GRIFFEY JR?

Last night upon ESPN Steve Phillips pronounced the Cubs need an additional left handed bat with power. I determine they have the right handed attack lineup with the difference of Fukudome. It seems to me which the usually place the single would fit in would be centerfield. Griffey is now in right with the Reds though I consider he could still fool around core during Wrigley. Pie is not attack during all as well as was the usually starte final night though the hit. Reed Johnson is the claimant for the leadoff hitter though I consider Soriano will stay there. Griffey is the single of the some-more renouned players in ball as well as the single who deserves to fool around upon the contending team. I know it equates to the lot for him to fool around for the Reds as his father did as well as he vetoed the traffic to San Diego the single year. I have additionally never listened any allegations of steroids as well as opening enhancing drug referred to with his name. I goal he can stay around to pass Bonds though I know it will be tough.

Yeah, there’s no way the Reds are going to trade him to someone in their own division. Walt Jocketty knows what he’s doing. It would have to be an outstanding deal and probably not worth it for the Cubs.

I heard a conversation on ESPN1000 the other day about how sometimes the best trades are the ones never made…The Cubs have expressed interest in Oriole’s Brian Roberts, and everyone had him packing his bags for Wrigley before the start of the season. He’s still an Oriole and the Cubs are in first place. Why tinker with that right now? They just put a 19-spot on the Brew Crew last night…how would having Griff in the lineup changed much?

The Reds won’t trade to a contending team in their division. I know Walt won’t be that stupid.

Never happen…plus it’s 50/50 as to whether Griffey will be healthy for a stretch run every year. I say, go with what you have if you are the Cubs with a more “traditional” small-ball approach with Fukudome…he is key.

Before I say anything I would like to say I like Griffey and I think he is clean. Secondly no the Cubs should absolutely not trade for him. Left handed or right handed they have bats. And a good defensive outfield. Griffey is what 62… 63? He can still hit and field some what but they need pitching. Rich Hill is ok and Zambrano is good and Lilly will suffice, but they need another 2 or 3 pitcher in that lineup. If they had Wood and Prior they would have won two or three rings by now. If they have something to give or willing to give I would get one more solid starter. Love Zambrano but emotional and likes to get hurt. If he’s healthy I will take him on the mound any day. But they need one more arm.

No they shouldn’t go out an get Griffey. We’d be downgrading defensively between him and Reed Johnson for sure. Offensively he will produce as he always has, but we don’t need offensive production, we’re doing fine with that. Why should it matter if they’re righty or lefty if they are performing?

I think the Cubs have a great lineup. I even heard that the Cubs have one of the best lineups in the league. Why would they need another lefty when they are doing just fine right now?

The Enforcer July 30, 2010 at 6:18 am

No. Griffey would cost more at 8 million plus and is as of today less productive than Fukudome who is only 7 million.
