WHAT INFORMATION DOES AN INVESTMENT STATEMENT CONTAIN?

for example, would an investment matter for the tall networth customer embody the portfolio structure, realised as well as unrealised profits, etc?

Well, it would primarily contain current positions – and yes, grouped by type. To be helpful, it should also contain information on gains/losses, although closed-out positions may not show for time periods after that in which they occurred – except perhaps on end-of-year and of course tax statements. And for certain it should show all transactions that occurred during the time period which it is reporting.
