WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BUSINESS BREAKS THE HEALTH AND SAFETY LAWS?

I am an A turn student, as well as for my coursework I need to know what happens when the commercial operation breaks the illness as well as reserve laws.
Anyone know?
Thanks!

Contact your local health dept.,,,,,they inspect for health hazards. Or the Fire Dept who can enforce NFPA which regulates safety. A business can be fined mega bucks if they don;t correct the issues.

nothing. The republicans put corporate insiders in regulatory positions to allow businesses to break health and safety standards

Look at all those mine accidents just a few years ago- all allowed by Bush’s cronies not doing the job they were supposed to do- regulate

what normally would happen is maybe a fine and a plan of correction

Safety issues are handled by the OSHA administration. Health issues are handled by the local health department.
Contact your local OSHA office and the local health department.

Someone has to have evidence that they have done something wrong
.
Someone has to find the laws that were violated
.
Someone has to take the finding to the proper governmental office to place a complaint
.
Someone has to then see if all the allegations are true as to the accusations of the complaint
.
Someone then has to file a legal complaint before the court if the violations have not been corrected
.
With in a set period of time

Typically if it’s a health code violation the local Health Department will be contacted and conduct an investigation. If they do find violations they can give the owner a time frame in which to bring the business into compliance and/or issue citations. Then, once the business is “up to code” they will conduct more frequent follow up visits for a period of time to make sure things are still what they should be.

If it’s a safety issue the local branch of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) would be contacted. Some states have their own, as my state has IOSHA (Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration) who would investigate any alleged wrong doing. OSHA and their state counterparts investigate unsafe working conditions and accidents/injuries in the workplace to ensure the employers are providing and safe and legal working environment.

I suggest for your coursework that you look both the Health Department and OSHA up and get some more detailed information into what they do. You can probably interview a member of your local Health Department and may be able to speak with someone at OSHA about what their job entails. Good luck and God bless!
