We’re opening the tiny home business. Do we need to protect/register the name of your commercial operation for taxation purposes, banking, as well as all of the alternative nuances which come since we run the personal commercial operation as well as we wish to be on top of the board, all legitimate? If so, who do we call? What do we do? Help us Obi-wan Kenobi, you’re the usually hope.

Most of this is based on Federal & State Law. I would try looking at the Small Business Administration web-site for details. Then find your state office that handles the same issues.
Starting any business is something that should be considered carefully. I highly recommend doing research before investing your resources.
Good Luck!
You should do a name search and register your business name for at least the state you are located in. Many banks etc won’t deal with companies whose names aren’t registered.
Most state websites will have info in searches and registering a business name. It will probably cost less than you’d expect. When I do mine in NV it is only going to cost something like 35.00 to search and 25.00 to reserve the name anually.
Go down to city hall and get a dba license for about $100 and you’re covered.
