WHY DOES THE US BELIEVE IN EQUAL POLITICAL RIGHTS BUT UNEQUAL RIGHTS TO WEALTH AND PROPERTY?

Why do people in the US hold everyone should have next to rights to opinion as well as rights to debate though await unsymmetrical placement of resources as well as property. I await domestic rights for all though I additionally hold which resources as well as skill should never be monopolised by the little minority who feat the rest of multitude as well as can aslo use their resources to hurtful the domestic system. Workers should run the manage to buy as well as shareholding association play should be transposed by workers councils with increase goin in to investment behind in to the manage to buy as well as state run schools as well as hospitals. Profits from mercantile wake up should go behind in to multitude as well as not used for dirty abounding capitalists to live pornographic lifestyles. Do most people agree?

Absolutely not! My husband and I have worked hard for what we have. Why should we give anything to some lazy slob who is perfectly able-bodied, but does nothing to take care of themselves?

Only Hugo and Fidel.

I hate how so much power is in the hands of a select few and how the select few often exploit the poor. However, I also believe that there should be opportunities for people to make their way in society and earn wealth and property.

Your premise is false.

America used to be known as the “land of opportunity”. And for good reason.

Everyone had the opportunity to use their hard work and good sense to become wealthy.

Fact is, it is still that way today.

You have absolute right to pursue wealth and property. You do not have the right to someone else’s wealth and property.

That is pretty clear. If you can’t make the cut, stop whining about it and accept the fact that you are not capable of being wealthy based on your own industry.

Be a good and honorable worker and stop envying those that have more ability than you.

That is who I am. I don’t envy the wealthy. I create as much as I can and find a way to be happy with that.

This economic system does not work, The name for this system is COMMUNISM. In this system the rights of those who work hard and take risks are abridged so that those who do not work hard can get a share. This leads to no one working hard or taking any risks. The government then has to try and force people to work and that leads to the further abridging of rights. In the end you end up with none of what you want neither the right to vote or to free speech and to nothing but poverty for all.

Countries that do not recognize property rights, do not recognize political rights.

What are you talking about. Everybody has the equal right to be secure in their possessions, per the bill of rights.

Property and wealth have to be earned, not “distributed”.

So get off your lazy idiot butt and make something of yourself, ya’ goddamed socialist!

There is no ‘right’ to wealth and monopoly.
When the balance of rich and poor get too far out of whack, with the rich being arrogant and unthinking of the poor, things happen, revolutions, party changes, unionizing, more supervision of how and where those profits are spent.
This doesn’t happen without some strife, as people with nothing to lose behave in ways that are frequently violent.
When it goes too far the other way, as in Socialist or Communist societies, people, feel entitled and unrewarded and don’t contribute in a way that grows the economy, this usually ends as it did in the USSR, too many people, not enough workers.
A balance is needed and it only seems to find itself one for a brief period before it swings too far again.
But again, wealth and property are not a right.

How is punishing those which choose to be successful and awarding those who would rather sit on their butts and expect others to take care of them a good thing… Keep your socialism, this country is based on Freedom not imperialism..

BarB November 1, 2010 at 11:07 am

Whooo! You would have made out very well in the USSR and would be a model citizen of China.

In our country, everyone has the opportunity to be successful…..Most, however, don’t want to work for it.

40,000,000 American teenagers drop out of school every year or have been graduated with less than Level 3 skills. Level 3 is the bare minimum required to hold a job. They hit the streets with no education, no skills, unable to read, write or carry on an intelligent conversation.

These people are losers and always will be. It is not the rich mans duty to support them.

We are a capitalist nation…the purpose of hard work and high production is profit.

Mamouns November 1, 2010 at 11:10 am

It is not a question of equality of wealth, but an equal opportunity to realize wealth in this country. People born rich were born rich because their parents were successful, poor people have no one to blame but themselves. The fact is that not everyone is equal, some are smarter than others, and a correlation exists between IQ and wealth. If we shared wealth equally, we would become communist and no incentive would exist for anyone to become entrepreneurial.

nospamcwt November 1, 2010 at 11:31 am

We believe in equitable distribution of wealth, not equal distribution. Equal distribution means that every one gets the same wealth, regardless of how much they contribute to society. That’s Communism, and it doesn’t work because it removes the incentive to work.

Equitable distrbution of wealth means that the more you contribute, the more you are rewarded. That’s Capitalism, and it does work to an extent, but monopolies are a threat to Capitalism, which is why we have Anti-Trust laws. Unfortunately, for the past seven years, the party in power has been under the control of large corporations. This has resulted in more monopolistic practices, and hopefully, now that things are swinging back towards the center, we’ll see some action taken to protect our economic system.

There will always be those who are not capable of contributing due to their level of intelligence, physical ability, locality, decision to use too many drugs, or a host of other reasons. The rest of us already to take care of them. They get SSI, housing, food stamps, free daycare, that lottery of medical insurance called Medicaid. Thank God for that “tiny minority that exploits the rest of us.” I hope they are living high tonight. Anyone out there with a restaurant job, manufacturing job, a job in a service industry, you have that job because the wealthy are wealthy. Thank God they are on the boards instead of workers who do not understand economics. It is scary to think there are many folks out there who think like the original poster here.
