GAM and CHN might be good. They have been in the past anyway. Also TDF.
My advice would be to avoid getting into an investment for the long haul, the markets are too volatile and overpriced right now.
If you do invest in an ETF for a long haul, I would advise to avoid the leveraged ones, as they have an inherent problem called slippage. Their value is compounded daily, and over time, they tend to move towards 0. Why you ask? Simple, whats -10% of 100? 90… now whats +10% of 90…not 100…
Leveraged ETFS should be used as day trading vehicles only.
I guess the next big bubble will be carbon emmissions, so if you could find and ETF based on that, it might be a good buy.
Just my two cents. Good luck
The world population is increasing by a net 218,000 people per day (births minus deaths). Chinese and other plentiful people are developing a taste for meat. It takes 10 to 16 lbs of grain to produce one pound of meat. So, Agriculture products are in growing demand around the world. Global warming is causing more floods and droughts and more failed crops, again increasing demand and prices for food crops. In weak economies, luxury goods demand falls off a cliff. Food demand holds up much better. Two ETFs: MOO and PAGG are the easy way to play this theme. Still better are individual stocks that improve crop yields such as POT, SYT, IPI, MON and irrigation stock VMI.
