Invest in Enron…oh wait…
Call Fidelity. They have good investment advisors.
You expect too much of an investment. Unless you are ready to loose your 1000 bucks.
If you invest in stocks long term, you can expect around 8% a year.
You can open an account with an online broker. If you have time, you can select your own stocks otherwise you can invest in a mutual fund.
No doubt about it, your sum will not earn any significant amount of interest anywhere. Your best bet is to find a long term stock that could generate 10 fold on your money, or even more. I like the gold explorers because when they find gold, the stock goes up really fast. One I know of is SolidGoldCorp, SLD on the TSX and you can get it by going through e-trade or one of the others.
You are ABSOLUTELY DELUSIONAL if you think you can get a 40-60% annual return on an individual stock. A 4-6% return is MUCH more realistic. Welcome back to Earth!
Let me get this straight. You want to invest $1,000 and get a 20% to 30% return on it in six months? That is completely ridiculous, but go ahead and listen to the people who tell you to buy some crazy stock and see how it goes in today’s market.
To add to the other posts that you don’t know what you are talking about…6 months is not a long-term investment. 10 years or more is a long-term investment. 6 months is short-term.
My short term recommendation is Ford Motor Company (F). In the upcoming election year it is likely the stock market will tick upward, however, not gauranteed. If the market is positive in 2012, you could see Ford rise from its current level of $10 per share to $17 per sharre. This is a reasonable assumption as I have watched it very closely.
Long term I would recommend Bank of America. It is currently selling at $7 per share, and I personally believe in 5 years it will be worth more than $40 per share.
Just don’t. You’re asking for a 20 to 30 percent return on a long-term investment? That does not exist. Stock investing is risky and you need to learn more before putting down that kind of money. You can learn more at http://typesofinvestment.info
